Lets not get into the whole Mac vs. Pc thang this is for a friend that is having a problem that is very strange.

He does his work on a Pc using Photoshop 7 and takes it to a printer in town to make some canvas prints. They have a Mac (no idea as to OS) and when he puts the disk in his computer it comes back and says he needs to QuickTime to read them. Now my friend is saving these images as Jpeg, Tiff, and PSD files and no luck.

On Photoshop 6 it did ask if you wanted to save the file as a PC or Mac format but PS 7 does not have this. Plus I always understood that Macs could read any graphic format.

So who's computer has the problem?

Make sure you have "Hide Extension" unchecked in the save window. This, believe it or not, is still important to PC's.

It may just be me, but it's not quite clear to me who's computer is coming back asking for quicktime. Is this the first time your friend is using this particular service provider, or has he submitted files before without any problems?

If your friend is burning CD's for the service provider, as David suggests, make sure the proper extensions are being used. Also, make sure that the burned CD is single session/finalized. (Macs don't do packet writing and can not read CDs burned in this manner.)

FWIW- I exchange files on a daily basis between Windows and Macs and have no issues whatsoever...jpeg, psd, Word, etc...

Assuming that the above suggestions are met and Assuming that the CD's were burned correctly make sure that the program reading the CD can accept the data. It might not be a Mac vs. PC problem. We have experienced problems with certain cd readers that just don't seem to align. Since you indicate that they can't read Jpegs, which are universal, I'd look at either the burner or the reader as the problem. Also certain programs have difficulty with hidden layers such as alpha masks that might go unnoticed in an unflattened tiff or psd file.
