The latest "Exposue U" monthly column by David Mecey explores the question of digital verses film. To help understand that column's function, I wanted to start a poll, a new poll to see what you're using, so make sure and go to the poll and vote...thanks, rg sends! (PS--comments welcome here too, I'm a film going going hybrid.)

Isn't it ALL digtial now? I mean..ever since you scanned your first negative or slide...it was digital. So what if the original was 35mm, 2 1/4, or 4x5...if you scan, it's DIGITAL. Digital quality has "been there" for 2 years...if you're waiting...you're missing out...or spending too much money...or have too much time on your hands.

I have resisted digital for a long time..but now I find the quality is there..the camera prices are getting more reasonable.each day...however I still think I am still going to keep a film camera as a back up..(probably never use it though) or maybe get a new E10 N for a back up..they are only $999 now!

E-10 is not a good choice for someone used to 35mm. The tiny size of the sensor really give you no control over DOF and IMHO, wholly unacceptable. Maybe if all you shoot it against a fashion wall, but ANYTHING where you want to have a shallow DOF is out of the question with the E-10.

I shoot only digital. I can count on one hand the times I actually used a film camera for an assignment in the last year. Most of my clients now prefer digital over film.

I've shot strictly digital for the last 2 years and am now going back to film.
That's what the agencies want and after scanning a few slides a couple
of weeks ago, I realized what I had been missing out on shooting digital
only.

Digital is not up to par with film yet. Maybe another 2 years. Also, I agree
that once the film is scanned it's digital but there's a difference in a 40 meg
digital file scanned on a film scanner and a 14 meg digital file. The digital lacks
the depth that the film has.

The article on the front said it all, treat your digital camera the way you do with your old one, remember, you still have to capture the image. Great article
