Sigma 70-210 2.8 APO and or HSM

Does anyone have experience with this lens? I'm aware of the Nikkor but it's a little much for me since I'm an hobbiest. This will mount onto an S2. Recomend/not recomend and why? Thanks in advance for replies!

I have the Sigma 70-210 2.8 apo for nikon mount..It is a great lens..the new model the 70-200 2.8 is also said to be a great lens.. Sure we would all love to be able to have the name brand NIKON or CANON glass ...but not always possable...of course to SOME people lack or $$ is not a valid excuse..lol

My stepson just purchased the 70-200 2.8 from Sigma. I have always made it a point to purchase Canon L glass, but I have to say that the Sigma is a very impressive lens.

I have the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and absolutely love it. Definitely on the heavy side, but it is extremely sharp, quick focusing, and handles nicely. I highly recommend this lens.
This photo was taken with the lens a couple of weeks ago. It's actually a crop from a larger image. Model is Kate Scalzo from Allentown, PA.

I have the 70-200 f/2.8 EX APO for Canon EOS and recommend it highly. I started with the Canon 70-200 f/4 L and wasn't all that impressed, and exchanged it for the Sigma. Great lens. Image below was made with it at f/2.8.

Model: Annel, taken at Rick Hughes' Photo Intensive Workshop Dec. '03.

I have the Sigma 70-200 EX f2.8 HSM for my S2 and I love it.

ILOVEITILOVEITILOVEIT.

I had a review of it up when the review section was experimental, but it seems to have been removed. Oh well.

The hype and propaganda about Sigma's HSM (hypersonic motor) system being fast and quiet is no s$%t...In AF/Continuous mode, it gains and maintains focus lock faster than any other lens that I've ever used. I'm also pretty crazy about the fact that it remains a single physical lenth, no matter what the setting. That feature alone should help it live for more than a couple of years shooting bikes and buggies in the sand and dirt. It also fits into my S2 body more snugly than the Nikkor lenses that I have...A nice touch. And, though it doesn't speak to the lens as much as Sigma themselves, it came packed in its box in a nearly indestructable padded and fitted cordura case with a shoulder strap (my Nikkors came with the cardboard boxes that they came in).

Buy this lens with confidence...You WON'T be sorry.

Cheers!
