What gets me is the pricing structure. I wonder how many more drives they would be selling if the price were lower. Im thinking like about $80 cost to make the drive if not less and they are charging $500 for it. How many drives would they sell @$300 or $250?? I have always thought that card and microdrive storage was over priced for the markets.
How many cds would there be out there if the price had come down lower sooner, ditto for computers with 1GB of RAM.
My rant right now is 512mb cards havent dropped much even tho the 4GB size is out now.
BTW you couldn't get me to buy a microdrive, too many oops dropped it horror stories, on the other hand I have lost count how many times I dropped my flash cards with no problems.
Thanks for sharing, it's always cool when a story gets out that demostrates some marketing practices of this type, gives you peek at the real profit margins made with some things.
