Okay, so I've encountered a minor irritant again today that I felt I should bring up. Not sure if there's anything that can be done about it though.

Around 9:00 this morning I went into the main forum area andthere were a bunch of new posts. Before I could read any I got called away to do something and then wound up surfing away for a bit to research something and then had to reboot. So, now, at 12:15pm, I have gone back to the forum and all those previous posts are now marked read. Now I have to wade through and try determine which were actually read and I'm not interested in and which I hav eread but am still interested in...

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I tried to go make a post inthe enhancments forum but seems only Goldies can post there...

Thanks a bunch...

I've noticed it too, and I just started posting the other day! It takes a while to figure out where the new post is. Minor deal, but still very very irritating.

I would agree, that is one of the 2 things about the board that have been a minor annoyance since I started reading. The other is probably even more minor and that is I would like the links back to the current forum to not only be at the top of a message but also at the bottom, because now I have to scroll back to the top to click to return to the forum. Probably just because I am not using the board to its fullest advantage but that is my tiny little peeve.

Dave, Same thing happens to me.. when you leave or log out all are marked read.

I am not sure that we can change that.

I think he means the link located at;

Garage Glamour Community Forums >> Tech Talk Forum

Where if you click on Tech Talk it will take you back to the main headers list. The Previous, Next or Index links don't do that, they navigate through the posts themselves...

I would think there should be a timing function that would do a 24 hour or 48 time out on the last visit before marking them as read.

I haven't been on any other forums but GG for the last year and a bit so I don't recall if this happened on other systems, but being computers, you would think there would be a way around it.

If not, I can deal.

Ciao!

Oh yeah, and Happy Birthday!

Hi Dave, InfoPop boards are notorious for that "feature."

You might check your preferences in your user CP for display...

I choose to view the forum in flat mode, and I use Camino which supports tabbed browsing. When I open a thread, I open it in a new tab. Then after reading what I want to read (and closing the tab(s)), I can simply refresh the main forum page, and what's read IS read, and what isn't...You get it...

Hope this helps...

What about the Maroon, Red and Bold Red. If I have read a post it is maroon. If I have not even if it is not new due to logging out it is red and if it is new it is bold red with the "New" icon next to it. Does this help you any?
