I was roped into shooting my brother's wedding, and I burned him a CD of the images, and will put them up on something like Shutterfly for them to get prints from.

But the older folks in the two families have no Internet and would think a CD player in a PC (if they could turn one on) is a cupholder... so I need something easier. Most all have DVD players, so I am looking at some software taht builds a DVD slideshow from image files. (Yes, I know a lot of DVD players will slideshow a CD with JPGS, but that won't work for EVERYONE and I need a universal solution.)

One thing important, is that it will show the filename on the screen with the image. Anyone have suggestions that they are using?

Try ProShow Gold. It is a great program that will allow you to burn slideshows on dvd, cd, stand alone and emailable. Runs around $60 for the full version. Well worth it. You can also find a trial version for free @ download.com.

Hope that helps....

I use SLIDESHOW TO GO 7.0, it's shareware, so you can try it before buying it and it's only $20.00.
You can make a self executable cd, (just put it in cd or dvd and it plays).
Don't know about ALL dvd's, but I know it works in a new SONY, and you can show file names on the photo's.
Here is the link http://download.com.com/3000-2189-10187076.html

Try it, if you don't like it, delete it, hope this helps.

I agree. The Roxio easy Cd and DVD is easy to us and it gives and has a pro feel to it. The image quality is great on DVD. (much better quailty than freeze frame movie or a Cd. Lots of control in every phase of producing.

Already tried ProShow gold... it pretty muched sucked canal water IMHO. Created HUGE files with transition effects enabled, and was flaky without transitions (would race through the images w/o pauses on some players).

I use flip album pro. I have not tried burning the album to DVD, but it should work fine. Flip album creates the best slide showes of any software I've found.

Unless you want to get fancy, all you have to do is burn a Photo CD. The Roxio product (Toast on the Mac side, whatever they said it is above on the pc side) will do this quite nicely.

The only kicker is that most of the dvd players that can run them are two years old or newer.

Cheers!

I just purchased 3d-album for this purpose. I haven't loaded it yet, but the demo the dealer gave me was really cool.....very versatile, lots of different things you can do including burning self starting DVD's and CD's. Check it out....
