Anyone own (or owed) a Tamron 70-210 f/2.8? I'd like to know what you think of this lense. I know its a discontinued lense, but I have a chance to pick one up at real good price. Any feedback?

Hey Bruce,

I've never used that lens, but seen results. If you're sure it's in good shape, like no glass scratches, slop in mechanisms, etc. it may be OK. Also remember that 3rd party lenses have more difficulty, like reduced focusing performance.

But, if you're looking for image quality, spend the extra bucks for the Canon 70-200 f2.8L. Canon L glass is far superior to the Tamron or Sigma, and yes you can really see the difference, even just looking through the viewfinder.

Just my thoughts.

Andy

I own one and love it. Most of the Ridgid calendar on my home page was shot with it and I've had images used on other calendars as well. As long as this particular one is in good working order, it should be very sharp. BTW, if you're a Nikon person like me, then getting a Canon lens won't help much.

This was shot with that lens, although its hard to prove anything on the web at 72dpi.
