And the survey says...

Sounds to me like the Pocket Wizards get a very strong and zealous majority nod, while the Quantums have a smaller but equally happy following.

My purchasing thus far has been geared toward the attitude "If I'm gonna buy it, I'm gonna buy the one that is most probable to be the last one," this stuff is too expensive to settle for almost what I want. The flip side is that I'm not depending on it for my livelihood, like so many of you are.

So it seems that the course of action that makes sense will be to upgrade the investment in the Bees now, buy a bunch of extra sync cords to stomp around on, and a voltage regulator. Later, the Pocket Wizards will arrive (I HATE being tied to anything).

Thanks all for your input - you have helped me to get off the fence...LOL

Cheers!

I can't really say how strongly I recommend some sort of remote trigger instead of a PC cord. It doesn't really matter which brand, they pretty much all work. But once apon a time, in a land fairly close by, a 15 foot PC cord cost me a Mamiya RB67. With the R67 firmly tethered to a Novatron transformer by PC cord, I set the camera on a desk in order to change background and lighting set up. An assistant (actually a former assistant!) tripped over his own two feet and the model jumped to steady him. Unfortunately the model's foot caught the PC cord, sending the camera rather solidly to the floor. The floor was hardwood over cement and not too soft, I learned that while I love RB567s, they don't bounce very well. When I picked it up, I noted the sides leaned slightly to the left. RB67s are great cameras, but they are designed to be used in their original condition, not with 10 or 15 degree tilt to the side. That 12 dollar PC cord cost me about 1800 bucks for a new body. That's when I went to a Quantum slave.

Get off that tether!

So I've been poking around the AB site again, examining kits and customizing options...

I picked out the Busy Bee kit, and went to make edits, and noticed their LG4X remote adjuster.

They say it can also act as a remote trigger...Does anyone have experience with THAT?

I'm assuming that it would sync cord to the cam, and it would also act as the voltage regulator that we mentioned earlier, and I like that it changes the slave mode from optical to remote, so no hang-, pre- or misfires...(right?)
