Mr. Sanders:

Being the "photoshop" master you have so abley demonstrated your self to be, can you answer my question I just posted today. It is along these same lines, but I had posted it before I got to this thread.

1998 to SRGB and then back to 1998. Is the 1998 data still there or lost in the the first conversion?

I realize you can't really go from SRGB to 1998, because as you have put it, you are putting half a glass into a whole.

But if your image starts as a 1998 and is converted to SRGB and then saved, and then reopened and converted back to 1998, what then?

I guess what I am asking is whether the profile is simply reading the original data as is, or is it actually rewriting the data and the end of the "conversion".

Or a virtual facsimile thereof.

Hey bro....many thanks for that explanation. I didn't expect such an articulate answer...I'm not deserving of one. I woulda settled for, "because it's just a better idea, dummy...deal with it!"

But many thanks for that value piece of information....and for taking the time to share that education with everyone. I have no doubt you've made a difference to someone shooting out there....ya have for me. Out of all the mentors out there, I always remember your teachings. (it takes a few days for the light bulb to flicker on, but the osmosis is there...)

Many, many thanks again Robert.

Jim
