Dunno if MAC batteries are any different, but most rechargeable batteries have a 3 year lifespan. OF course, like all recharg bat's if you leave them on the charger 24/7 they woln't hold a charge as long, sounds like yours have possibly run there course, I wouldn't trust em if I was going off on the high sea's Jayson, see what you can do about getting a replacement.

Hey, finally something I know something about...

Most laptop batteries, including the iBook ones, are rated at 300 charge/discharge cycles. So, it you were to run it one day on the charger and then one day off, it'd last about 600 days. Using it plugged in all the time dramatically shortens the life span as does only partially discharging and then recharging the battery.

My guess would be that you need to replace the batteries.

A lot of rechargeable batteries build up a memory. Especially when you charge them off and on and they are not completely dead when you do. There is a little trick us computer salesman have learned. And that is to charge the battery up. Run the notebook until it is completely dead. Then charge it up again. Do this process 3 times. If your battery has a built up memory cycle of what it thinks is fully charged this should erase it.
