Richard, To get a photograph of a screen without a black bar across it you have to shoot at a shutter speed of 1/20th of a second or slower so it would be important to get a meter reading from the screen before you do anything else. Is that what you where after? Happy Holidays, George

exercise of trivial bs....

if memory serves me correctly the frame rate of a tv/movie/etc is 36 frames a sec, it has been awhile so i could be wrong...anyway the human eye can only pick up "black bars" if they are going by slower than 30 frames a second, hence the 36 frames above...

shooting at 1/30 or slower will work is my point since tv frame rates are at 36ish....

like i said just meaningless bs....

Happy Holidays everyone!

Actually thought it to be a interesting and applicable question. Could see application for it if one was shooting with a CRT some place in the frame, like a bussiness portrait, or images involving some sort of technology involving displays, like diagnostics, material testing, CNC, etc.. Thanks for providing a incentive to think. Merry Christmas! George
