When cropping a image in photoshop, is there a way to maintain the height:width? Thanks in advance.

If I understand your question correctly, you want to maintain the aspect ratio (width to height) when cropping an image. Simple -- just select the "crop tool" (third tool, left column of tool menu). In the crop tool control panel, set the width and height for the final image (say 8 in x 10 in) and drag the crop tool over your image. You can adjust the selection until your happy, then click Enter to crop the image.

Thanks Marty, Thats exactly what I was after. Been doing it withe the rectangle thingy. Hoping the couple books on PS I've ordered will be here soon. Don't help that I'm pretty clueless on computers.

You can still do it with the "rectangle thingy". There is a setting for "Fixed Aspect Ratio". Enter 8 x 10 or 10 x 8 or whatever and it will let you crop without changing your dpi settings. There is also the fised size setting where you can enter your info directly.

Hope that helps!

Cheers!

The crop tool let's you maintain any aspect ratio you want or you can say I want it to be 5 x 12 and type those numbers in. If you type in 7 as the longest dimension it will automatically make the second number in ratio to a standard 35mm aspect.

Keep your head down buddy and 360s are the rule of the day.

Got it! Too easy. I've figured out how to do all kinds of cool things, still weak on the basics. Thanks all.

Hey Jayson, thanks for the heads-up. Think that point was actually passed a while ago. We should be hearing something soon as to deploying back home, based on time frames. I suspect it'll be more like we're here for 18+ months. There maybe agenda's here, but, there is'nt anything resembling a plan. Take care, George
