I have used my Tamrons - 28-105mm and 70-210mm, both f2.8 - exclusively since I bought them on recommendation of David Mecey a couple years ago, and have not been disappointed. They're lighter than comparable Nikon's and I believe equal in quality. I've not tried them on a digital, but hope to soon!

FWIW, I ran into a friend back east over the weekend at a wedding. (We were both guests, not shooting it, but we both had cameras). He was showing off his new Canon 1Ds with 70-200 (?) Canon lens. (I had my trusty Canon G1). His camera weighs a ton. I don't know how I could hand-hold that thing for an hour, much less all day. My Tamron 70-210mm on my Nikon F100 is a featherweight and I can use it all day without pain.

Regards,

Thanks, Andy! Coming from someone of your caliber, it means a lot! By the way, all my friends LOVE your (my?) new calendar! They now bow down in awe as I show them that I have an actual hand-written greeting from you!

Thanks again!

Good day sir!

"and Bronica has always been high quality"...but Bronica was NEVER compared to Hassy/Zeiss glass...or even Mamiya for that matter.

From a business standpoint, there is a market for different price points, but there is almost always a measurable difference in the quality of the product you receive.

For an adult man, I can't see something like a few ounces being a decision factor in me choosing a D100 over say a 1Ds or D2H or whatever; but that's coming from me and I prefer to shoot a 400/2.8 almost all the time...NOT a small lens.

most of the wedding/portrait shooters in my area actully use bronica over hassy...simply because hassy lenses are TOO sharp...even with diffusion...

most of the shooters that I know that use Bronica (are there any left??), use it becuase they couldn't initially afford Hassy gear...then when they coukd afford it, they couldn't afford to to make the "switch" to Hassy...

Hello
i have a canon 10D with a canon: 28-135, 50mm f/1.4, and a sigma 15-30 dg 3.5.
and a minolta maxxum 7 35mm with a tamron 28-300, sigma 17-35 and a sigma 50-500.
i have had good results with all of the sigma lens, but i feel that the tamron is sharper, and better built.
