I've used both Dell and Sony computers and I have stuck with the Sony for almost everything I do. I haven't used those models specifically, but the Sony has just seemed to work better for me. The only problem I had was with a DVD writer once, but they replaced it and haven't had a problem since.

I have a Dell 5100, I like the computer fine, but, I don't know that I like Dell's service. Got hit by a power surge that took out the protector. Was unable to contact them from here(Kuwait) as all I could get was 1-800 numbers for them. Ended up sending to my wife, who handled it from that end. Was unable to get any answer on it's status while they had it for approx. 3 weeks until it showed up unannounced. George

I checked out both machines last year and went with the Sony. Not a single drop of regret. Screen is large, service is impeccable, like the look and feel more, plugs are well placed.
