Does anyone use a metz flash on the Nikon D100, or for that matter any flash other than Nikon, I have two nice CL 4 flashes that dont need to go to waste. Anybody got any opinions?

get the AS-15, its the nice little device Nikon makes you buy to get a pc sync socket. It goes onto your hotshoe...wheeeeeee. My Metz 60CT-4 works fine. I am thinking your Metz flashes are on brackets.

Gotta be set to manual.

There may be other ways in order to engage your auto exposure but I do not know...yet.

Hope this helps.

thanks Stu, I was more worried about what Nikon said about the hotshoe connection voltage and current etc, didnt want to fry the camera.

Nikon just wants you to buy Nikon, they need to get off that damn boat. Pet peeve of mine. There is no reason why they cant engineer whatever is inside an AS-15 (lil circuit board) into the body of the camera.

The AS-15 should be available in your finer camera stores, or just order one from B&H Photo in New York.

I use Metz 60 series and 45 series, with the D1X. Shouldn't be any real difference, except the D100 may have to have the hot shoe pc adapter.

I use mine with radio transmitters and receivers, and as many as 4 units plus on-camera.

Works pretty much the same as with film, using the thyristor circuitry. I have found that TTL is highly overrated, in terms of exposure improvement from the thyristor sensor on the flash itself, through some detailed testing. Therefor, I don't bother with TTL connections.
