First off RE shoe mount flash....I have sunpak PZ5000Af and sunpak 120J TTL

Both give me full matrix ttl fill flash and such with my F100...what will i lose on the D100 ...is there a diff between ttl and D-ttl...???

Should I just plan on getting a sb80dx flash ??

Jason as I understand it the D-TTL is specifically designed for D-100s and D1 etc. I will tell you that my SB80 worked fine for a year then it would only fire about every 3 times. I sent it back to Nikon (unfortunately 1 month after warranty expired) and it was $130 to fix the firing trigger. The other issue is on the D1X if the camera is writing to card as in you just shot a few quick RAW images the flash will not fire even if it is ready. In fact it will not fire until the camera is totally done writing.

Specifically you loose any kind of flash control done by the camera itself.

You are back to the 1970's technology thyrister circurity that is built into the flash. A sensor on the front of the camera reads the light reflecting from the subject and quenches the flash.

This is one of the big reasons I went with the S2. The S2 can still do normal Nikon TTL flash metering.
