I pretty much had my mind made up that my next camera (to re-place my Nikon CP 5000) was going to be a 10 D. Now I am seeing the specs and price on the new Rebel Digital.

Why wouldn't I want to go with the Rebel?

Less controls of camera....the Rebel for alck of a better term is a dumbed down 10d....also i dont believe the rebel has a sync port...etc...you cant shoot raw as well ask JasonNJ...he should know the exact differences.

The body on which the 10D is built is just a much better body. Better construction, more features, etc. The 10D will do more and last longer. If you're looking at this purchase as an interim that you'll get rid of in a year or two -- buy the Rebel and save the bucks. If this is a longer term investment, consider all the features very carefully.

I have a Fuji S1 and a Fuji S2. I notice the better focus and metering in the S2 with every shot.

An excellent overview of the differences between the 10D and Digital Rebel can be found at DPReview. The biggest limitation of the Digital Rebel (and film Rebels for that matter) is one command dial is used to control both shutter speed and aperture (you hold down a button to switch apertures in manual mode). Furthermore, many of the settings on the Digital Rebel cannot be customized.
