Has anyone printed on watercolor paper using an Epson 2200?

What sort of paper should I use? Weight? Thickness?

Anything in particular I should avoid?

Settings I should use?

Thanks,

The only thing I have noticed is that it's real particular to the paper thickness. I get good results with 10ml paper, only fair with 7 mil paper. Haven't tried watercolor paper tho...

But they are pretty cranky about sticking anything in or through their printer that didn't start out life with an Epson logo on the box......

And if you call their help line they'll tell you that if it's not an Epson product they can't help you. I know a guy that bought a 2200 because he demanded "real archival" products and some article (probably written by an Epson employee) said that it was Epson or NOTHING. What a mess he had trying to print with non-Epson products. I don't think it was that much better with Epson products.

One thing I noticed over the past year talking to Epson 2200 owners? The only ones not having color problems are printing from a Mac.

Regards
Bob

I've used Premium Glossy, Velvet Fine Art, Watercolor, Enhanced Matte, and Premium Luster (all Epson). I print on the Glossy for models, my portrait clients get Luster and when I do my artistic images I used the Velvet and Watercolor for B&W and Enhanced Matte for color and B&W if the subject calls for it (ie. not shiny subject). I tried Red River paper at 10 mil and it was okay. However Picto Rico papers would not work in the 2200.

Bob,

Gotta disagree with ya here....Im running a epson 2200 on a pc...and with a correct profile I have no color problems...and I havent used epson paper in the thing yet.....I use the Ilford papers. My monitor is also calibrated and profiled. Ive found (from the epson group I subscribe to) most people with color problems are either trying to use the wrong profile for the wrong paper...OR are using an uncalibrated monitor and as such there colors are off. I can print and hold the print next to my screen and it is the same...

Alot of people assume because they have a profile that they can print any and ON everything. I have actually been mreo disappointed with teh profile from Epson on thier papers than the others.

I use an Epson 2000 which is reportedly quirkier than the 2200 an dit absolutely loves the watercolor paper, esp for B&W. The watecolor paper gives me true tones and an attractively soft image. In fact, given the choice of watercolor digital prints an traditional photographic enlargements, my last two private commission clients chose the watercolor paper.
