Hi all:

A bit of a direct question here. I have recently purchased the new and improved Octodome (5 foot) and Multidome (biggest one they have). The new octodomes will handle hot lights and have gold/silver reflective inserts. The Multidome was desgned for this very same purpose in mind. Using Photogenics 1250DR monolights with Quantum RF triggers. Camera is an Olympus E-10 as well as a Mamiya RZ with Phase-one H20 digital back.

The question is this: Is there supposed to be a substantial difference between the gold insert and no insert? I only notice a very subtle difference (only if you're looking for it) as compared to using a normal gold reflector. The silver insert seems to give a whiter light, but am having difficulty discerning the difference between the gold insert and no insert (white). Anybody have any experience with these new boxes? I seem to get much more of a response just using the 32" multidisk that I purchased from photoflex.

Neither camera would show any substantial difference while the Mamiya-H20 setup did show a greater level of tonal and color gradation. Any input?

is your camera set on auto white balance while shooting the gold? that would be the first place I start looking if there is no difference.

Hi,

I have several Photoflex Mulidome Q39 Softboxes and I see a real difference in the white, silver and gold inserts. Don't know what's up with your camera. I think it maybe in the camera somewhere.
