I am about to purchase a lens to complement what I already have. I am trying to get a reasonably priced wide angle lens to compensate for the 1.6x magnification of the Canon 10 D. I have always been told that youre images are only as good as the last layer of glass your shooting through. But now, for me anyways, it becomes an economic, or is it income-nomic lol.., issue. What do you guys think about the Sigma 24-70 lens. It boasts a 2.8 apeture throughout. Anyone using this particular lens?
Thank you for your opinions in advance.

Sincerely,
Luis Zepeda

I'm actually looking into a 28-75 2.8 from Tamron. Digitally Intergrated design XR all the bells and whistles.

technical hoop-lah
all reasonable prices, around $329 or so for most mounts i believe. And we here at Unique Photo Inc. would love to take your money, I mean,... help

I bought it and absolutely love it. It's a heavy lens, well constructed, good feel, and tack sharp. Go for it.

I know it's expensive, but I waited until I could afford the Canon 24-70L 2.8. It is an awesome lens and is on my 10D most all the time. You might have some focusing issues, as Off-Brand (no offense) Lenses often do not fully comunicate with the Canon CPU. Also, it may not communicate all of the shooting information.

The FredMiranda.com site has plenty of people shooting all kinds of lenses and you might be better served to ask this question there...

A 24 - 70 is not that wide, beleive me.

I have a tokina 20 - 35 2.8 pro and its amazing how much extra you get by using the extra 4 mm

Tamron makes a 20 - 40 mm 2.8 which is also a very good lens,

you can pick them both up on ebay no idea of prices....

The tokina is tack sharp, built like a rock and I find I am using it more and more, for both glamour and for fun stuff.

here is a good example of what you can get with 20 mm's

If I were you I would stay with Canon lenses. I have the 24 to 85mm that is around 300.00. Its a nice lens for the money.

I have heard of problems with off brand lenses and the 10D and 1Ds. The off brands don't communicate as well with the camera and defiantly don't focus as fast.

I have a few lenses all Canon and the L glass is better but more expensive to say the least. The L lens in the same range is around 1,000.00.

I have a 10D and a 1Ds and the 24mm is good on the 10D but the 1Ds is a bit nicer because the CMOS is 35mm in size.

B&H in NY is probably the best as far as price goes.
