Jason, you might have to go into the Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools menu to use the Character Map tool. From there you can copy and paste what you need. That is providing you are on a windows system. If it's Windows 98 the Character Map tool might not be installed so you'll have to do that too. On a Mac, you may have all new issues to contend with.

I hope that helps. Cheers!

I know this sounds like a dumb answer but I have been guilty of this before.. Any chance the NumLock function is on?

Thanks,
Israel

I believe the keys your are looking for are part of the numercial key pad on the main key board. If you can plug a regular keyboard in, you should be able to pick the the alternative symbols your looking for.

Maybe the type of text you selected isn't viewable. The first time I used Photoshop to put text on a picture it came out all wierd, I was using Machine text. I then selected the old standbys, Courier New or Times New Roman and it worked fine.

Jason

You can't use the keys across the top for alternate characters. Your laptop probably has a "Fn" or Function key that activates a numeric keypad? You hit that key (usually a color like blue or green) then there should be a subtext on some key that's the same color that says "NumLock." That will activate a numeric keypad that has the the numbers in the alternate color under the letters.

Make sense?

Bob

Jason, no.. XP allows the alternative characters. you need to hold down the ALT key, and while holding it down type the 4 digit character code.. 0169 for the © symbol.

you then release the alt key and it should be there. but as I stated in another post, and others have stated... not all type faces or fonts include this character.

I think Bob hit it below -- look for the numeric keypad which on a laptop will be superimposed onto your alpha keys. On my laptop, 1-2-3 is a combination of Fn + j-k-l. Those funny blue markings I never pay much attention to, lol. XP is the same in character mappings as the earlier os's,
