can you do it?? if so how?? I need an answer quick, I would love to use my D100 with this thing I thought it would work but havent been sucessfull. I will shoot film with my other Nikons to use it but would rather not.

Thanks in advance

Stu

The manual seems vague and hard to understand in the flash section, Nikon sure doesnt want you using any flash but theirs......

any shutter speed under 1/180th of a second should do it if you are asking about shutter speed. If you are talking about how to fire the flash you need a hot shoe on the flash or a hot shoe to PC sinc adapter for the camera.... or whatever the flash uses to sync.

Don't plan on using any TTL flash measurement, your d100 won't do it.

I guess my question is can you get anything to fire off a D-100 hotshoe or can you only use Nikon speedlights if there is no synchcord?

My main problem is the flash wont fire. It fires fine on my 8008s but nothing with the D-100 matter of fact the only thing that will fire off my D-100 is my studio strobes with the AS-15. Soooo I'm wondering if I am just missing some small detail or maybe something is wrong with my hotshoe.

Thanks in advance

Stu

I don't know about the D100 but I recently tried to use a third-party flash with my N80 (eegads! I'm "outing" that I still use film - can't wait to get a D100) and it wouldn't work. When I looked in the book about the hotshoe it listed (all Nikon) flashes I could use with it so I am thinking it will work ONLY with those flashes. A moment later I tired someone else's SB-28, which was in the list of course, and it worked like a charm.

I use pocket wizard radio slaves at least 2 times a week in my d100 and a couple times a Vivitar HV-285 and 283 flash on the hotshoe. Anything that has the pin in the middle and the contact on the side will fire.

Sometimes the contacts need cleaning, I find that the data contacts need it more than the center pin. Sometimes with my SB-28, 28DX, or 80Dx the data doesn't show up on the flash. Take the flash off and wipe off the contacts.
