I've got to get rid of this sync cord (always tripping over the thing). Any experiences - good or bad- with the different models out there? Someone told me to stay away from the Quantum units - not sure why. I use a Kodak DCS460 , Fuji S2 Pro and Hasselblad with Calumet Travelights. Thanks for any help...

I love the quantums that I have (3 transmitters 4 recievers all "B" mode).
The battery life is long. I have used them everyday for the laxt two years with no trouble at all. Good luck.

Another vote for Quantum. Relatively inexpensive and I consider mine to be more reliable that godawful pc cord. It's omnidirectional and range just isn't a problem. It's a product which actually does what it's supposed to do.

If most of the strobes a;ready have a slave feature, is one transmittes and one receiver sufficient? If I were shooting with 2 cameras, can 2 transmitters and one receiver work? Also, what is "B" mode

I use Venca, have done so for years, and they continue to perform well for me.

PocketWizard may have made them more affordable, today, as PocketWizard didn't exist when I moved to radio slaves.

The anwser is yes. If you fire one flash with a optical slave on another (or others) they will all fire. I have alot of recievers and transmitters for weddings and group photo sessions were I don't want to have everything firing at once. Like dance floor shots at weddings I work from different sides of the fooor so onfill flash is set up for 1 hi and the one on the other corner is set up on 2 lo, that way I don't have a flash that is directly in front of me going off and flairing the lens. Also Quantums have (I think) four differents radio wave signals A, B, C or D. Each unit A,B,C or D has four modes to shoot in:
1 Hi, 1 Lo, 2 Hi or 2 Lo. This is for use as I discriber above. I not a quantum salesman. web page
