Hi,

I'm just evaluating what would be the best lens choice in my money limit to buy these days a Portrait purpose lens only taking into consideration the best quality image they make.
The following choices I think of are:

- ef_24_70mm_f_2_8L_usm

- ef_135mm_f_2L_usm

- ef_50mm_f_1_2L_usm

Above 3 lenses are my max limitation of money that I can invest.

Bellow two lenses are what I already have.
ef_50mm_f_1_4_usm(this one I will sold if buy 500mm f1.2)
ef_70_200mm_f_2_8L_usm

Below is the lens that I can not afford.
ef_85mm_f_1_2L_ii_usm

I have Canon 5DMKII and 1Ds MKII.

Would appreciate your suggestions for the best portrait use in studio and outside of the studio purpose. I'm interesting in best quality image lens with reach colors.

My guess would be that with your full frame camera that the 50mm might not be the best choice due to possible distortion for portraits. The 24-70mm or the 135mm might work better for this purpose, although I think your 70-200mm would also work quite well for portraits.

^^^ thanks for reply.....
Considering 50mm lens, I was thinking the same since I already have 50mm f1.4 and this is very good lens but for the close up portraits some distortion will appear, although for the full body image I had no problems... Will I notice any difference between 50mm 1.2 and 1.4 I do not know, maybe in quality and colors since the 1.2 or 1.4 are very close and usually I do not use these wide open numbers for portraits, normally for me f2 or f1.8 is enough....
70-200 f2.8L is great lens, I love it and I use it mostly on 1DsMKII(big camera big lens).
This is why as option to 70-200 which are great for me, on 5D MKII, I would like to have additional great lens, sharp and colorful with beautiful bokeh.
I had 28-70 f2.8L some years ago but I wasn't so satisfied with sharpness and bokeh but maybe it was bad copy. Probably the 24-70 f2.8L would be the best choice to cover the range bellow 70-200 for wider shots. This is why I put 135mm f2 on the second place but also I heard lots of great things about 135mm lens for portraits...

....still thinking???
