Pretty often, I feel like I need to shoot more with the film camera I rescued from my fathers closet. I tend to just sit there in the sofa, fiddling with that old camera, looking through the viewfinder, manually focusing on just about everything and thinking to myself: "man, I love this old camera, it's just so cool! I need to start shooting film again! And process it myself. Now if I could only figure out what to shoot..."

Having fiddled with that old camera and then picking my digital up, I realize that the digital one is far superior in many ways (well, in every way actually, apart from build quality and framerate), but still I always return to that old piece of history...

But what I wanted to ask, before I got on that sidetrack, was this: is anyone here still shooting film?

Yup. Our numbers may be dwindling, but we're out there. Which film camera is it that you have?

A few film shots:

Nikon F4s on Ilford HP5+ film:

Contax 645, and I don't remember the film, but this was scanned from the contact sheet to make it a little soft:

And Polaroids too...

Polaroid One-Step with Polaroid 600 film:

Polaroid SX-70 on TZ film:

It's a Minolta 9000AF. First generation AF body, so the controls are so-so and the AF is about as slow as it gets. But it's built like a tank and never seems to run out of batteries. Only problem is I don't know what to do when it breaks down beyond repair...

Hmm, probably the easiest thing would be to get another off of eBay or something like that. :P I have a Nikon F4s, and as much as I love it, I'm thinking of replacing it because it's not completely compatible with one of my lenses.

Have fun with your Minolta! Put some film through it and post something up.

In addition to my EOS 5D and EOS 30D Digitals I still have my EOS 1N Film body and I do get it out every once in a while when the 'call of the film' hits me.

I also have a fully functioning Leica M3 rangefinder camera and an Asahi Pentax H2 SLR camera. Both of these cameras are fully manual and require the operator to know how to effectively use a meter and take photographs.

I have a Canon Rebel XS 35mm. Since I am playing at getting a BFA I need to shoot film to get through the first 3 photography classes. Such hardship *smile*

My N70, (2) FM2's, and a few even older bodies sit on the shelf. I do break out the RB67 on occasion but I don't have anything scanned.

Sure do, but it's getting harder to find and even harder to find a lab that will still mess with it. I do still shoot medium format and 35mm film on occasion though. Mostly for nostalgic reasons.

I still have my film cameras up on a shelf collecting dust. A Pentax K1000 and a Pentax A3000. The batteries are out of them and all of the caps are on just in case I want to go back and shoot some film.
