Hey all,

After years of use, my cheap Hong Kong witeless strobe triggers from eBay still work great, but I like the idea of being able to adjust my lights (especially my hairlight) without physically lowering them and making the adjustment. I was looking into the Cyber Commander system from Alien Bee/Paul Bluff, but it seems like it's been advertised as "not available yet" for almost a year. I wrote to the Paul Bluff company in August and their response was --"We are finishing up the detailed programming to the software on the Cyber Commander and hopefully with start shipping within the next few weeks, if not sooner." I wrote them again last week and got this response -- "We are working right now on getting all the preorders ready and are hoping to start shipping them mid next week."

So ... have any of you pre-ordered a Cyber Commander and received it yet? Should I look into something else, like the more expensive Pocket Wizards? Should I just stick withy my cheapo Chinese triggers and invest in a good ladder ?

Marty.
I own three Pocket Wizards and really like them. Now having said that, yes they are expensive and are unable to adjust strobes remotely. For me, I still have to manually lower my light output. Seems to me that you would only be making a lateral move if you invested in the Pocket Wizards.
According to Buff's web site the Cyber Commander is ready now! You might want to check it out. Personally, if not, I'd wait it out. Your almost there...
Let us know how you like them. I may very well get a set too!

I have two of the Chinese made ebay triggers but after having them a while they don't work right all the time. Often times my camera shutter speed needs to be set at 1/60th of a second, or slower for them to sync correctly. So I ordered the CyberSync trigger and receiver and they have worked flawlessly. Much less money than the Pocket Wizards and American made.

If you had the Elinchrom RX series mono lights and the El-Skyport you could do what you want to and they work great and are available now.
