Mac users,
I have just received my new Mac Pro and I need to start using it. I'm looking for help on setting up a new workflow using aperture and CS4! I do have one twist that I would like to explore. That twist would be to crop before adjusting any settings in raw. Once I import all my photos into my Mac and create a RAW backup, I would then like to mark/rate the photos to weed out the bad and highlight the good. Once this is completed, here's the twist, I want to turn over the next step to my wife. You see, my wife does most of my cropping, so I would like to have her crop the RAW file and save it as RAW, and then I will go in and adjust the RAW settings and go on from there.

Is anyone willing to share their Mac workflow? Is what I described above possible with Mac software?

Any help with my new Mac would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Pete

Hi Pete,

Well, I also work on a Mac Pro (MBP), but i use Adobe Lightroom (LR2) insted of Aperture because it has two monitors support and some nice tools for local adjustments.
My wife does all body retouching on her I Mac.
Our workflow is the following:

1- I take the pictures and import all to MBP on RAW format.
2- I do color adjustments and crop on LR2. Since it is a non destructive software I have my RAW files untouched. ( I guess aperture does the same)
4- I export edited files to PSD
5- My wife opens PSDs files and work on body retouches
6- I import her saved files to LR2 again
7- I Apply portraiture plug-in from LR2 just to keep all pictures organized on my catalog. (The plug in could be applied directly on Photoshop)

I'm not a Pro.
Actually I just have started taking pictures 3 months ago.
If you don't get offended by escort girls pictures (I really think that there is no reason for that) you can see my portfolio on

These photos don't have the portraiture plug in because I just bought it last week ;-)
In a few weeks I hope new pics will be on this portfolio with some plug in enhancements.
