My question is in two parts. Seeing how some of you shoot digital, I saw a photo done by Tim H. where he changed a photo by adding yellow to it. I had asked him what program did he use to change it and can he or does he use filters on his camera to achieve the same effect?

I have several photo programs to play with, from Photoshop 2.0 and 5.0, MGI Photo Suite III, MGI Photo Suite SE, Microsoft Picture-It 2.0 and probably a few older programs. I use a lot of them to play with because they all have good features, but not in the same program. Does anyone else use several programs to play with or just one and which one (or more) do you prefer?

Also, I donít shoot digital (but someday may change to one) and I would like to know how it would handle the use of filters. Does it shoot what it sees or does it try to correct its self? Might sound like a dumb question, but hey if I donít ask Iíll never know.

As per my earlier post IM using the D1X and cokin filters...with great success (at least in my own mind *g*) the D1 seems to shoot what it sees at least with with what Ive played with so far...This was taken with a cokin diffuser

Thanks for answering my question. Nice image also. Looks like you used two filters on this shot. A red combinded with difussed.

If you use a digital camera, one of the 1st things you learn about is white balance. If you set the camera on Auto White Balance then put an 81a filter in front of the lens, the camera will try to compensate. Thus you must set the white balance without the filter then put the filter on and you can use the filter just like on a film body. Knowing that, you can achieve very similar results using Photoshop and other digital image editing programs. This image was shot normal (no filters), then using Photoshop and a plug-in I achieved a soft-focus tinted image.
