If you're really on a tight budget, and you like building things, there's a rather nice "C-style" stand design at a site named something like "DIY-Photography" - it's made from black iron pipe, mostly. If you build carefully, it'll be sturdy. Add a sandbag to stabilize it. But it'll cost about $65 last I priced everything.

Here ya go Pete -

Here are some quick and crappy shots of my system. Below is a couple shots of how I store my seamless paper. The top shot shows how the shelf brackets hold the paper, the bottom shows how I can stack 10 rolls on my wall and still have room below the peper for other equipment.

The shot below shows my seamless paper holder (two light stands, two 90-degree adapters, and a 10-foot galvanized pole. Inisert image shows a close-up of the 90-degree angle where the galvanized conduit and light stand meet.

Good luck,

Marty,
Thanks a lot! I just couldn't picture your storage idea in my mind. I like it a lot and will try it in my garage. Do you ever have the problem with shelf brackets digging into the paper fron the weight of the roll?

Thanks!

Pete

I've been using this homemade paper storage rack system for several years and have never had lines on my paper. Maybe it's because I use the paper quite often ... or maybe that seamless paper is so thick it doesn't easily get a crimp or line ... or because when I use the paper, I unroll it across the floor and any crimp or lines would be in the outter few feet and that never shows on camera. The only problem I have with seamless paper is ... models sticking their high heels through it! LOL
