Well supposedly my light should be in tomorrow so I'll start working that thing so I can see if it is worth the money one would pay for it. Any ideas on good situations to put it through to see how it handles?

Did you get it with any modifiers? You could always start with simple beauty lighting. Mount the monolight just about your head level pointing down at your model. Add a reflector (foam board works well) at about chest level, and see what you get. Or do standard Rembrandt lighting, 45 degrees to the right of the model and 45 degrees up, reflector on the opposite side to bring up the shadows.

Lots of options, just experiment and see what you can come up with on your own.

I would suggest looking at ebay. I know this may be offencive to some, but I was able to purchase my original JTL 160's for $60-90 each. They worked fine for me and I have purchased additional JTL monolights since. I have several 200 ws mono lights and hope to purchase some more powerful mono lights in the near future.

FWIW - I would pick a mainstream brand (there are plenty of "off brands"). That way, if you do decide to purchase more, you can. There will also be plenty of modifiers for them.

Well I can at least say one thing about the Flashpoint II 320a "it works" I still have to work on some different lighting scenarios but hopefully I'll be able to find some models after finals are over.
