Not wanting to hijack the other thread I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has...
(1) shot with a Canon EOS A2 camera in the past (or currently)
and
(2) found a good reliable *rechargeable* 2CR5 battery?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that it wasn't recommended to use any of the current rechargeable batteries in this camera as they are typically underpowered especially if using the on-camera flash. I'm so tired of spending nearly $20 each time for throwaways. I have 2 of these bodies and while I'm primarily using my 20D I still hanker for trying some film shots.

Thanks...Richard W.

$20? Way too much money. They are about $10 near me. You can buy 4 for $28 here:

and get free shipping and no tax.

The A2 brings back some good memories. That was the Canon body I used when I got into auto-focus and it was a good body. The one sore spot on that body which Canon never fixed was that the Mode Dial (on the left side of the body as you hold it, right beside the penta-prism) was very, VERY cheap plastic and would fail after a year or so and to replace it with a good, metal dial cost back then $200.00 or so which today is more than that body is worth but it is a good body. Glad to see you are still using yours.

As far as batteries I have 2 suggestions. If I remember correctly your battery can be exchanged with AA batteries. I have a Nikon pocket digital camera that takes that battery and I used the AA's on occassion.

Also, check Walmart or Fry's Electronics. Walmart has that battery by Everyready or Duracell at $8.00 or thereabouts. Fry's has a house brand for approx $6.00.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hello RH, I am using the Canon A2, I am using it with the vertical grip VG10, in fact, this is my main body ( I do not shoot digital).

I am using non rechargeable battery (Panasonic), I can do between 20 and 25 rolls of 36 exposures on one battery. They cost me $8.00 here (Montreal).

PhotoDave1, there is something I should not see, I tried to fit a 2 AA batteries and it is impossible on my A2.

Just my 2 cents.
