I am looking for recommendations for a web site design software program that I will use to set up my own photography web site. Am planning to have galleries as well as the usual studio information. Thanks.

I use Dreamweaver. Slight learning curve, but it's pretty powerful. For something simpler, MS Frontpage works ok.

I use Msn and it works great to be free plus youget your own url www.

You can inbed items that they do not have all and all not bad unless you will be making a tone of money with your site and have 1,000 of visitors a day then might consider godady.cm and dream weaver to build.

My friend told me about this package works well...

Take a look at mine..

NetObjects Fusion is what I use. I've been using it since version 1 (they are now on version 10). I've done hundreds of websites using it. Right now they are having a big sale and you can pick the latest version up cheap. But they also have a free version which is quite powerful (more powerful than FrontPage was and more powerful than the new product that Microsoft has put in place of Frontpage).
Dreamweaver is certainly the choice of the bulk of the pro web design marketplace, but it is quite expensive and the learning curve is considerable.
Cheers,
rfs

I know nothing about web design! Let me start off by putting that out there right from the start. I did though, attempt to build and start a website with Network Solutions. Here is a link to it.

http://www.brennansphotography.com/home.html

I know it still needs some work, (any suggestions would be appreciated!) but it was easy to build by myself by following their templete.

Just my two cents!

Pete

A few quick things for you Pete.

First off, for not knowing anything about the web, your site looks good -- and it's very easy to navigate.

On every page, I see a white speck at the same spot. Likely a design issue...perhaps CSS. Here is what I see (the green arrow points to it):

Your menu could be improved b by changing the currently hovered item to a bright white rather than a dull grey.

Your home page generates a ton of errors. None of these are critical as most browsers will tolerate them well enough. But, if you'd like to see them, go here: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...Inline&group=0

Good luck!

Some other suggestions for editors

http://www.pagebreeze.com/
http://pages.google.com/

I haven't used them, but they look to cover the basics at least.

It's a bit pricy but check out SiteGrinder... http://www.medialab.com/sitegrinder/

I'm giving serious consideration to this as I think it's a far more graphic way of setting up a website...and photography is graphic after all, right? Also considering that most of us seem to be using PS for our work this fits right in.
