Trying to get the copyright symbol to appear by using alt 0169 but it just "gongs". I don't have a separate number pad in the corner of my keypad which I am evidently supposed to be using and have the num lock key down. Plus, a related problem is after I use the Type tool and type the info onto a photo I am supposed to hit the "enter" key that is part of the number keypad or the "commit" checkmark but I can't find either. The regular "enter" key cannot be used because it just adds another line (carrage return). Any tips on how to make this work or anyone that is good with CS3 that is willing to help me learn the whole metadata, watermark, copyright thing. Thanks

If you are trying to do this on a laptop I do not believe that it will work. I have had the same problem with CS2 and a laptop.

Most laptops have a number pad on the right side of the letters. Look around UIOP for a numberpad -- often in blue. You'll also find a Function key (might be abbreviated FN) in the same color. Holding the Fn key makes the letter keys turn into a numberpad. You can usually press Fn-NumLock to toggle the keys between letters and numbers (like caps lock) also.

Doing Alt 0169 on a laptop is a real pain. If you are on a Window's machine, then use Charmap instead. Charmap is a program that comes with all Window's Operating systesm. You then select the font you want to use, click on the copyright symbol. Click Select button, then copy button. In PS enter the text mode using the text tool and press Ctrl V to paste the copyright symbol in. This works just fine.
You can also use shapes, but that does work as well when working with text.
Cheers,
rfs
