I am considering purchasing some Photoflex Softboxes and need your honest advice. I am considering purchasing either the Multi Dome 54" x 72" x 32" or the 7' x 1' Octodome which would be used with my PL2500DR Photogenic lights. Of these two, which would you prefer and why?

Thanks,
Jean Darnall

I don't have any experience with the multi-dome but I have a 5' Octodome and I really like it! In retrospect, I wish I had purchased the 7' version.

Thanks for responding Jimmy. I am leaning towards the 7' at the moment. Since you have the 5', is there much falloff from the center to the edges? How about ease of setup?

I have used the 7' Octabox ... but when it came time to buy, I bought the 5' Photoflex Octabox. Why? Because I shoot in my house and there would be NO WAY to fit it into any of my rooms. Also, I brought the 7' octabox on a location shoot and it really limited where we could shoot (due to it's size). Since buying the 5' octabox, I'v had no trouble using it anywhere. It was a little "stiff" and hard to assemble when I first got it, but once I got the hand of how to get the rods into the slots, it was fairly easy to set up.

Here are a few shots using the 5' Photoflex Octabox as the primary light source. Do you see any bad light falloff?

I have the Large Multi Dome and the 5' Octo Dome too and like both of them, use them with Hensel 500's..

Marty, I've sent you a PM. The attached photos are awesome. Thanks for sharing them. I certainly do not see any bad light falloff at all.

StevenD, one thing which concerns me on the Multi Dome is the thickness. Does it seem to be more bulky the the Octobox? How about the ease of transport/setup/teardown for both?
