So I recently started shooting raw and had never had problems until now. Out of the 300 or so shots from my session there were three that were "messed up". Two of them the right-upper corner was gone and replaced with black, green and blue lines and then one of them looked completely scrambled with different colors and lines all over the place.

Here is the last one I described... What gives?? I shoot a 40D and 4gb Extreme III cards. Does this just happen or is there really a problem I need to address?

My first reaction is that there may be a bad spot on the card. Try filling the card by just rapidily taking shots of the same scene and then check them to see if you see 3 error shots again. If they reappear, see if they are at the same location on the card (they would be in the same location in the thumbnail browser of Bridge for example as from the original batch).
Was the shot you posted really at f2.8 at 1/1250th?

Cheers,
rfs

Yes, the shot really was at that shutter speed/aperture. I will give your idea a shot. Thanks for the help!

I had a card do that. No problems with other cards. I formatted the card in my PC and then formatted it in the camera and haven't had any problems since.

My 10D would do that if the battery got low (enough to make the battery icon flash). I also had that happen when a SanDisk card failed on me. SanDisk replaced the card.
