like imac's you are limited on what you can do internally....I have an Imac G5...I would recommend using a firewire external HD...I personally like Lacie for brands....just make sure you use the firewire though....USB will give a burst of speed then slow way down and the firewire will be consistent. I don't know how much space you are looking for....but apple just came out with time-capsule which is a "server" HD built into their airport extreme base station...so, it would give you a wireless 802.11n connection has a usb port to act as wireless print server and has an option 500gb or 1tb HD. Just some ideas.

Jayson, getting to the internal drive of an eMac is a pain in the butt. That stuff is packed in there like a Chinese jigsaw puzzle. I really suggest you have a professional replace the drive if that is the route you want to take.

My suggestion is external, forget USB, the eMac only has USB 1.1, not USB 2 and Firewire is faster than USB 2 anyway.

I have several externals and the best ones come from a place called Other World Computing, they have everything you need and pros who can help you figure out what you need. One of the coolest units they have is the Guardian Maximus, it's a stand alone mirror RAID system.... I highly recommend them for backup security.

I concur with the others and would also add that if you have the gigabit ethernet card, and your looking to add to your system and are not taking advantage of the gigabit card; then you may want to also look into getting a network hard drive.

That is of course if you have a airport extreme router (gigabit router)
