I've been using photoshop for years and for the last couple of years I have been using CS2.

Something strange has suddenly happened. When I click file-open the files are listed backwards. I can right click and say arrange by name and it will fix itself but if I file-open again, it is reversed again.

VERY frustrating! Can you help?

Thanks,

Michael

Are you renaming your files, or using the file name given to the image by the camera?

Are you uploading your files using a CF card reader or some other type of software?........

I am not understanding wher you right cllick.. you mean in Photoshop?

Mac or PC?

Post a screen shot of the file open dialog showing the reverse order problem. Also tell us which OS you are using. I assume your are right clicking in the Open dialog itself.
Cheers,

Windows XP Pro...Photoshop CS2
Doesn't matter what type of files it is also the directories.
Example the way they should be:
1.jpg
2.jpg
3.jpg
4.jpg

The way they are:
4.jpg
3.jpg
2.jpg
1.jpg

If I right click on the file open box in Photoshop I can click on
"Arrange icons by>Name" and it will reverse the order no matter which way it is. But it always defaults back to decending instead of assending.

I made a screen shot but can't figure out how to post it.

Thanks for your help!

Do you get the same reversed file list if you use Open As rather than Open? Do you see a button in the lower left corner of the Open dialog that says "Use Adobe Dialog"? Check Files | Scripts | Script Events Manager and see if there is anything active there (an auto activated script at this point could change the sort order of the File Open dialog --- for example).

If you want to upload a screen shot, just upload it to your G1 Portfolio and then include it in the post with the [Images] link. Here is an article that I wrote that shows how to do most everything in the Portfolio system:

Cheers,

try doing your sorting then close the dialog box without selecting a file. Then try opening it again.

Also are you using the adobe dialog box or the OS dialog box. (not sure if this is the same in CS2 as in CS3)

Sorry guys, didn't "vanish" just coming off of a very busy holiday season. Worked 98 hours a week and had no high speed internet

Still have not fixed the listing problem. I just click each file list and reverse the order. I am upgrading machines soon and will do a complete reinstall on this machine. (A pain to do but the speed increase will be worth it.)

I think it is a settings issue (maybe in my registry).

Thanks for you help anyway.
