Anyone know how to effectively capture and save these tutorials? I'd like to go back to them at my leisure and not have to be online to do so.

You can save them off to your computer as FLV files (flash video). You'll need a flash video player. To save the youtube video, go to this link:

http://keepvid.com/

You would find the video you want on youtube, and paste the URL of the video into the box on the above link. They'll then give you a download link. If you don't have the free Flash Video player, they have a link there to download it. There is also a pay one, but don't download that. Also when you install the player, it will also want to install a tool bar, and several demos. Just say no to all of these.

Keep in mind that YouTube keeps changing things around to break these kinds of captures, so you'll need always verify that each download works.

Cheers,
rfs

If you're using Firefox as your browser, the Download Helper extension is great for downloading from YouTube and other sites. Download Helper is integrated right into the Firefox browser when it's installed. You can get it from the Firefox site at:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006

You can get the free FLV Player from http://applian.com/flvplayer/. And , as RFS mentioned, just say "No" to the toolbar and demos.

If you are having problems downloading, there are two other things you can do...

1) videos are often held in your temporary internet cache and therefore a movie you've already seen may well already reside on your hard drive, and
2) if all else fails including the above advice, look into a capture utility such as fraps http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraps
