I had a huge amount of trouble. It took me 2 days. I finally just decided to let it keep trying to repair the previous install in a series. Every time it failed I just reinstalled it, it seemed to be failing further on in the process each time, until I got to a completed installation.

Good luck, it's frustrating as hell but seems to be worth it just for the new Camera Raw.

Did you have the beta version?

When I got the new CS3, I failed to use the 'uninstall' on the beta and had problems. I am running on a Mac. You can go the the Adobe site and download a beta - cleaner, and once you run it, you will be able to install the new CS3 without a hitch.

Another thing that happens sometimes that will cause this error is your DVD/Cd drive. Sometimes these drives will skip info during a read and the installer will not request a re-read. The older the DVD/Cd drive, the more likely this is to occur. You can usually overcome this by first copying the DVD/CD to a temp folder on your hard drive, and then install from that folder. The copying process does do re-reads on skips.
Cheers,
rfs

Okay, latest update, clean script "level4" program installed. Yeah!
Guess what Bridge doesn't launch, back on phone to tech support, after about 2 hours, guess what he suggested I get in touch with Microsoft...
hmmm, guess its time to re-format the hard drive...does anyone know how to copy and save your (mine) favorites in Internet explorer?
Gonna post this elswhere also.

Sure. Under XP, just copy the Favorites folder under the C:\Documents and Settings\username path to whatever backup media you wish to save it off to.

My CS3 install crashes during the HDR process. Not sure if I'm sorry or glad to hear others having problems with it. Perhaps it will be patched soon!

Hey Dusty -

Sorry to hear you're having problems - once CS3 is installed you'll love all the new features and capabilities. What computer, what processor, and how much RAM do you have?

Doc

There are hidden folders in the documents and Settings\yourname folder. Windows has a migration tool that works well, as will doing a full backup with windows backup, then you'll have everything. (don't forget to download your network drivers and video drivers (if you don't have the origianl disks) before you format the drive)
