Hi There

I have just purchased a Canon 70-200 2.8L IS lens and was wondering if anyone here has any experience using one.

I am particualy interested if anyone can tell me if they have noticed if the Image Staberliser uses a lot of battery power as I am coming to Tampa early November to attend JT's SuperShoot and wondered if I need to get a spare battery for my 1d mark ll as I don't want to be caught out.

I used the 70-200 IS 2.8 on the 1D Mark llN in the VI, shot for 3 hours in the morning and then 3 hours in the afternoon with no problem. I do have a spare battery just in case something happens to the one of them. I believe in backups, thats just me.

Use one on my 30D, no battery power problems noted but I also carry a spare battery.

I own an Olympus E-300, but I second being prepared. You never know when you'll end up with the short end of the stick.

I have a battery grip on my 5d. With 2 batteries in the camera, and the 70-200 F/2.8 L on the camra, and the IS turned on, I was able to shoot over 2800 images w/o recharging the batts.

you spend that much dough on a lens and don't ante up for more than one battery?

I've spent all my money on a trip from the U.K. to photograph all the pretty girls you have over there in the U.S.
I guess if my battery goes I'll just have to use my cell phone lol

Thanks to eveybody that has taken the time to answer my thread.
I guess I knew I should really have a spare battery just in case and have ordered one today.
I have also ordered yet another SD card as this is another thing that I would hate to run out of, and I have no idea how many shots people are likely to take at a weekend workshop.

that'll work. it's what half the "models" at sites like One-Model-Place use for their portfolios... leastwise, the ones who want to be paid for their work.

Great Lens, I've had two over the years, but yeah, you should ALWAYS have a spare battery and memory card
