These are 2 images from the first studio shoot with my Fuji S5.
They were shot RAW
WB somewhere in the 5,000's
Used Camera RAW
No Edit of anything - exposure, WB etc.

BLUE SPLOTCH:

MAGENTA LINE ON LEFT SIDE:

Outside shots look fine.

A week or so later I had a commercial shoot on white paper and the magenta line on the left side happened to most of the shots - I took some shots with Fuji S3 - no line... Fortunately for me, the client didnt notice.

What would cause this?

One theory is that the blue from the tie was reflected back in something white (front of softbox, white reflector, etc) and that the magenta is from a reflection also (there appears to be magenta in the shirt). Also I've seen lots of mentions on the web about "chromatic aberration and purple fringing" with the S5. I can just barely see the magenta, however. But the blue splotch is pretty obvious and annoying.
Cheers,
rfs

You are right...there is magenta in the shirt. I am very frustrated with this!

How hot were the background lights. The blue on the suit coat looks like lens refraction from shooting into too white of a background light.

I have not had any problems with my S5, but I've only had it a couple of weeks. I used it in the studio for some bridals last week with no issues. I'd have it looked at by the camera shop or at least shoot some test shots in similar conditions to see if it's consistent.

Not good to hear if it's systemic.

The BG lights are one stop over. What do you think of the magenta line - it is on almost every pic.

I get the blue spot when I use one particular older lens that's not coated for "digital", I think it's a reflection of the sensor off the lens. Did that on my S2 also.

No idea what the magenta line is, my S5 doesn't do that.

I have seen a line like that one when the shutter speed is just a teeny bit too fast for the strobes - try shooting the same shot with the shutter one notch slower (eg: if you had it at 1/160, try 1/125).

However, normally the line is black, not magenta, but I don't know what else to suggest.

Strange problem - good luck!
