I'm working up an artist's bio for a gallery that exhibits some of my work. I'm using MS Word and inserting a 2"x 3" color portrait of myself in the text. I'm printing on 8.5" x 11" Epson Premium Glossy paper using my Epson R2400 printer. When I print the portrait alone from PS CS3 using the appropriate icc profile, it's perfect. When I print the bio (with the portrait embedded) as a Word document, I get a pronounced color and contrast shift in the portrait.

Does anyone have experience sucessfully printing Word documents with images embedded without color/contrast shift?

Thanks in advance,
Doc

I'd try switching the file to sRGB before putting it in Word.

Thanks, Tom -

Color space is sRGB. The portrait is used on the Web and was converted to sRGB from Adobe RGB 1998 due to similar color shift when uploaded using "Save For The Web".

I usually run it through the printer twice for stuff like this. Once for the pic and once for the text.

I don't recall that Word is color managed, so it might be difficult to get the same image to print and look the same as directly from CS3. It may be easiest just to edit the photo first in CS3 to get the appropriate look when printed in Word. This means it may not look as good in CS3, but would print nicely. This would be a trial and error process.
Cheers,
rfs

I haven't done this, but I will through out something to try. Since Word is not color managed, you need to print with something that is. Try converting your document with embedded image to PDF and then print it with PS.

Why not just do the entire artwork in PS. You can copy the text from Word and paste it into PS. PS does have tools for justification, leading and so forth. That way you don't have to worry about the photos colour shifting.

Cozanostra -

That's what I've ended up doing - I've been busy printing and matting for a show and haven't had time to post the solution. I haven't used the text feature in PS for years - it's much improved!
