Does anyone have one of these units. I'm going to buy the 2400 or the 3800 in the next few weeks and the only reason I would consider the 3800 is for getting the 16 X 20s out of it. The 3800 has less dpi and I'm wondering if it puts out as good of image as the 2400. The other issue I have is that time to time I print canvas. I dont think the 3800 does this. Any input would be appreciated.

i have the 3800 since February. the prints are awesome, i don't know where you came up with the less dpi, but its probably well past the point of the eye being able to notice it. The 3800 prints are better than my 2400 ones. Also, the ink changes automatically from matte to photo depending upon which paper I use, so thats awesome and saves a lot of ink.

Easy to use printer, love not having to change inks as much as my 2400 and also to make the larger prints, it is quick, the Epson RIP software sucks ( it doesn't allow any papers besides Epson), and I have no idea about the canvas issue.

All the canvas I've seen comes in rolls and the 3800 doesn't support rolls. I don't know if you could cut sheets of canvas and get it to feed.

Tommy,

Looking at picking up the 3800 this weekend if the local shop still has them in stock. Although Epson does not oficially support Canvas media, the printer will handle canvas if fed correctly.

Following link has quite a bit of information and some hints for working with the 3800.

The 3800 is definitely the go - it is much cheaper to run in terms of ink, and turns out prints that look better to my eyes than the R2400. I had an R800, and currently have the R1800, R2400 and the 3800. Although I got the 3800 mainly for the ability to print A2-size (which I have done - the results are excellent), I now use it for the vast majority of my printing because I have to change ink cartridges so rarely.

I do use the R1800 occasionally, but only for printing CDs or DVDs (the 2400 and 3800 won't print those).

The 2400 has been relegated to printing model releases mostly

I called Epson on this and she said that it all has to do with the print head setup which makes more sense. The speed and quality will be noticeable better. Looks like the 3800 will work for me.
