Hello!

Im trying to decide on a kit and need some info...does anyone have any experience with the new Hensel pro mini generator? Im looking at this kit
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ughType=search
and it seems like a good deal...how does it compare to the porty kits? Im also looking at this one
http://www.adorama.com/HLPPPKASR.html ...what benefit does the porty have over the mini 1200?

the info on the website is sketchy at best so any added help is greatly appreciated
thanks in advance

Your Adorama link is broken. Here's the link you intended:
http://www.adorama.com/HLPPPKASR.html

You can also look at the Hensel USA site here:
http://www.henselusa.com/products.html

I do not see, however, the B&H product listed on the Hensel USA site.

The Porty is a battery-powered generator, so you can wander out into the middle of nowhere and shoot up to ~250 or so full powered shots. You can connect two heads to it. As shipped it runs on batteries only, so you'll need multiple batteries if you want to shoot all day (the kit comes with two). There is an AC power adapter (~$1000) that will allow you to plug it into the wall.

The Pro Mini generator is an AC-powered generator, so you need a wall outlet to power it. You can connect up to 4 heads to it.

From a control standpoint they're pretty much equal. As shipped the Porty kit comes with one head, the Pro Mini kit ships with two heads. The heads are compatible between generators, but the Porty head only has a 50W modeling light (to prolong battery life) whereas the Pro Mini head has a 300W modeling light.

ahh indeed! thank you for your help...now to decide between a porty setup or a integra + visit/pure sinewave power setup...i like the flexibility of monolights...not to keen on the fixed ratios of the porty

The ratios on the porty kit you mentioned (The Porty AS/RC) aren't fixed in the way that you think they are. You can divide the maximum energy sent to each head as follows: 1:1 (600/600), 2:1 (600:300), or 3:1 (900:300). Each head can then be independently adjusted over a 6 stop range in 1/10th. stop increments. It's extremely flexible.

The Pro Mini divides its capacitors similarly. There's an A side and a B side, with two head outlets per side.
