How do I know? I have tested the issue....I did have some half frames around here somewhere I could show...shutter was set to 1/500th and low and behold (more of a duh really) 1/2 frame was black...slowed the shutter and a little less was black and so on until i got below 1/200...

This was all on a D60.

Wes

It's a camera with a shutter like any other camera -- film or digital. I don't think it makes a difference. The next time I'm in the studio and have a free minute, I'll test. I shoot with a Fuji S2 there days.

My bad - I didn't think digital cameras had a moving/mechanical shutter.

Even though the manual says 1/60th with external strobes, that does not appear to be true. I had some done some tests a while back with a Novatron setup and I shot starting at 1/60th and moving up to 1/90th, 1/180th, 1/250th, 1/350th and so forth. At 1/350th, I lost the bottom 1/3rd of the frame. At 1/500th, I had only the top half of the frame. At 1/750th I had about 1/6th at the top still there and at 1/1000th nothing (all black). The expousre appeared the same for all variants for the part of the photo visible and for everyting 1/250th down to 1/60th looked the same exactly. If someone wants to see the sequence I can probably dig it out.
Perhaps someone should contact Canon and get clarification.
Cheers,
rfs
