One of my strobes has recently developed a recycling delay of about 15 seconds even at the lowest setting (it used to recycle instantly). Can this be a simple repair issue (as far as just changing out the flash bulb) or does this usually indicate an internal problem with the unit itself?

Can this be a simple repair issue - yes, it MIGHT be

just changing out the flash bulb - almost certainly no

does this usually indicate an internal problem with the unit itself? - almost certainly so.

The charge is stored in a capacitor. Either the capacitor is leaking or otherwise failing, the charging circuit itself is failing, or the circuit which detects "full" is faulty. Any of these MAY be simple, or can be complex. Generally, unless you work with high voltages routinely and know how to do so safely, you shouldn't try to repair this on your own.

IMHO contact the manufacturer. The caps in a strobe can knock you across the room if you don't know what you are doing and try to repair it yourself. I used to work on large mainframe computers and am used to working around power supplies. I have repaired a couple of photographic power packs, but they made me sign a waiver when they sold me the parts to repair it myself. Just email the Mfg and they can probably give you an idea about the problem.

I contacted the manufacturer but they stopped responding after I told them I bought the unit from a 3rd party and not from one of their dealers. I emailed them again but as of today...still no response.
Does anyone know of a reputable repair center I could ship this unit to? Its an Opus system if that matters.
