Hate to make my first post a question, but I have lurked G1 for a few months now and went out and purchased Garage Glamour today (great resource btw).
My question relates to a certain background I have seen in some glamour photos as in the link below:
http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=3833467
Is this encompassing shadow around the model done by lighting or by photoshop? Any suggestions on how I could achieve a similiar effect would be much appreciated.

Could be either, but you could e-mail him at justin@justingrantphotography.com and ask him!

It can be done both ways. I used to do it via photoshop until I discovered how to do it via lighting. Other than my name on the top image, there is no photoshop applied to either. They are exactly as they were out of the camera.

I simply use a background light behind the model and make sure my fall off is within the frame of the camera.
