I dont want the best I want quality for a reasonable price
stuff im considering

D200

Nikor
17-55mm f2.8 ED-IF
AF Fisheye 16mm f 2.8 D

Sigma
30mm f1.4
17-70mm f2.8-4.5mm DC Macro
APO Macro 150mm f2.8 EX DG HSM

Not all of em, trying to get a selection to choose from and then buy.
Im a bit of a hack but I want to be better, I want to set myself up with gear to get me comfortably to a semi pro level. Somewhat restricted in consideration because I want some compatibility with an Aquatica underwater housing as well. SCUBA is a passion as are the outdoors.
Anyone be bothered with advise for me?
Cheers

The D200 is one of the most successful DSLR's out there and a real joy to work with if you're used to shooting Nikon. You don't say what you've been using but my only caution would be not to change from Canon to Nikon (top 2) unless there is a major compelling reason - and I shoot with the D200. But I also know that Canon makes a great product and it should be what you feel comfortable with. As to lenses, the only one I know anything about is the 17-55 which is a fabulous lens, tack sharp. Take that combo, add a 70-200 VR 2.8 and you can do about anything.

Perhaps you have already looked into the Tamron 28-75 XR Di 2.8. Very nice lens for, what, $350 these days? Haven't looked lately but I've had good luck with mine.

Also the Tamron 17-50 XR Di II 2.8 is a very nice wide angle though its more at $500ish.

Of course there's the venerable Nikkor 50mm 1.4 or 1.8. The 1.8 can be had for under $100 and it's tack sharp.

I am in the market for Nikon D200 SLR Digital Camera. I have been reading expert reviews and that has been useful to me. It may be help you too. I had been using PCWorld.com, cnet.com to find reviews. Yesterday I used PriceGrabber’s expert review tab (http://www.pricegrabber.com/info_exp...terid=13321369)
and found a site (www.smartratings.com) that aggregates expert reviews.
It only covers a few categories but it is pretty neat. Just my $.02.
