My skin tones see to be "off" compared to others on the net. (A little too cold.)

Please direct me to the correct path.

I use alien bees 5600k
I use a canon 20d, set for 5600k custom white balance.
I open the raw file in photoshop, setting white balance at 5600 with 0 tint.

I have a Huey monitor calibrator and use it before each session.

But what I produce seems to look cooler than other folks. Is everyone else 'warming' excessively?
I know you would like to see a sample. I'm new at posting here so this is a link to one of my shots somewhere else.

Can you help me?

Thanks,

Steve

You're right, it's too blue. Try using a color checker to set the white balance as opposed to the presets. I've had good results using my Macbeth color checker on everything from people to tacos. But failing all else, go ahead and warm it up manually (gels on the lights, sliders in raw converter, curves in ps, take your pick.) Even if your numbers say it should be right, if your eye says no, fix it.

You are getting just what you're telling the camera to do. If you want warmer photos and the light is at 5600K, then set the WB on the camera to a higher K setting. Try 6000K to start. In other words, you'll not be using Custom White Balance, but the K White Balance method. That should give you a warmer photo. What you're doing now is to set a basically "neutral" WB, and that does usually look a little cool.

As for RAW, slide the slider up to 6000K. You can usually just visually set the WB in RAW converter and get it to the desired warmth. As a general rule, set your white and black point before using the WB slider (in other words, use the Exposure and Shadow sliders first).

Cheers,
rfs
