I posted here about 4-5 weeks ago about my 20D Canon...I have sent this Camera back to Canon three times and they have not fixed it yet...and now they tell me there is nothing they can do about it....the Camera does not run out of warranty until Nov. 1st 06...
They won't even return my calls...
Needless to say ...I'm pissed...been a Canon user for 38 years and this is the way they treat their clients.....
Dayum....
Thanks,

Buy another one, put the old one in the box and return it saying it's broke.
The retailer will send it back to Canon end it'll end up in the shredder.

Apart from being dishonest, this "trick" will get spotted - the camera's serial number is on the box as well as on the camera.

Thanks,
That's very odd. I belong to a Canon 20D group and we have discussed many times Canon Service. The over whelming majority have had great service that was fast and courteous. I have always had good service when I needed repairs to my Canon cameras.

Your report seems sort of vague. What exactly was the problem with the camera that caused you to need warranty service? Gives more details on the history of your service problem and exactly what you've done, etc., and perhaps one or more of us can offer advice on how to solve the problem. Also what did Canon say the problem was and what was their stated reasons for not fixing the camera or not being able to continue repair attempts.

Note: I noticed that a number of people provided advice on things to try relative to your earlier post. Did you try those things?

Cheers,
rfs

Out of curiosity, which service center did you send it to? ie NJ or CA. I've had dealings with the Irvine Ca service center and have to say its been a top notch experience everytime. But, mileage does vary I guess.

I've seen the error99 before as others stated also, but not very often, maybe a couple times a year.

Best of luck.

I had great luck servicing my Canon S40. A known problem was corrupting files. Not only did they replace the processor board, but they replaced my dented body...for free. Then I had to send back my video camera. Another known problem, which took them over a year to acknowledge and agree to fix...but they fixed it promptly once the service bulletin was issued. So both times it was their fault, but they fixed it quickly and courteously.

Try Contacting Canon Professional Services and explain the situation to them. I had a problem with one of my bodies a couple of years ago and they hooked me up with a repair in about 48 hrs even though I wasn't a member. Do a google search for their contact info, or maybe a forum member can provide it. I don't have it anymore.

Canon's been good to me. Can you be more specific on your issue?
